ROI – Jack and Diane Chapter 37

Diane sat back in her chair, frustrated. “We’ve spent months chasing new business models, new systems, new strategies. Yet growth feels stuck. Where’s the return?”

Jack leaned forward in that insightful way of his. “You’re asking the wrong ROI question.”

Diane frowned. “What do you mean?”

“ROI isn’t just in products or processes,” Jack said. “It’s in people. The most overlooked investment executives can make is in themselves and their teams. The data is clear — some organizations see seven dollars back for every dollar invested in leadership development.”

Diane raised an eyebrow. “Seven to one?, is that some made up ChatGPT statistic?”

Jack chuckles “Not this time, it is from real research from New Level Work. And it doesn’t stop at numbers. Leaders who keep learning new business approaches, new ways of thinking, etc. model growth for their teams. That creates engagement, innovation, and loyalty. Time spent developing people multiplies everything else.”

Diane nodded slowly. “So my real question should be — am I investing in people as deliberately as I invest in strategy?”

Jack smiled. “Now you’re asking the right question.”
